PTA Banned Night Packages All Over In Pakistan


PTA, Pakistan Telecommunication Authority has released the orders to shut down all night packages on all Mobile networks.

Pakistan Telecommunication Authority has given the reason that these night packages are ruining the characters and moral values of the youth and thus ruining the social values of the country.

Chairman Pakistan Telecommunication Authority Chairman Mr. Farooq Awan Said:

"We have received a number of complaints from the Supreme Court of Pakistan, the Standing Committee of the Parliament, senators, MNAs and subscribers regarding the promotion of vulgarity through such advertisements and have therefore asked CMOs to immediately discontinue such packages and to present compliance reports,” said PTA Chairman Farooq Awan."

PTA called an meeting with the regulatory authorities of all networks and head of the licensees and all attendees of the meeting admitted that the advertising of the night packages were really not according to the moral values.

PTA further stated that a telecommunication company has already sent a warning letter to mobile network service providers who spreads SMS texts related to these night packages.

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority has admitted that the tough competition in Telecommunication networks has forced the mobile networks to introduce some cheap call rates and call packages, but as we've observed, the night packages are in no relation with any positive usage and thus they are highly misused by the youngsters, in result, we are loosing our moral values.

Pakistan Telecommunication Authority has claimed that they are using the power of Reorganization Act of 1996 by which they can regulate the competition in the sector of Telecommunication to protect consumer rights and ensures that the user's interests are protected and safeguarded.
